Mike is the Manager & Head Coach at Top Tier CrossFit. Mike is a CrossFit Level 1 certified trainer and first got into fitness as a multi-sport high school athlete. Michael played college football for Catawba College, and eventually transferred to Appalachian State to finish his education. First introduced to CrossFit in August of 2011, Mike soon made CrossFit his sole method of training and has never looked back. Mike is a 2x Regionals athlete and is also a member of the New York Rhinos GRID team.
Tyler is an esteemed coach at Top Tier CrossFit and a lifelong athlete. He is a Level 1 Certified Coach and a CrossFit Endurance Trainer with additional certifications in CrossFit Movement and Mobility. Prior to CrossFit, Tyler played division 1 college hockey for RPI and later coached division 1 hockey. He represented the United States in the 2010 U18 World Hockey Championships where he helped coach the US to a gold medal. He has competed in several CrossFit competitions along the way including the 2011 CrossFit Games in Carson, California. Tyler is also a firefighter for the Winston-Salem Fire Department.
Ashley is a CrossFit Level 1 certified trainer and has lived an active lifestyle for years—CrossFit training, running 5Ks/10Ks/sprint triathlons, as well as being a two-time high school state champion volleyball player. Ashley graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from UNCG in 2011, and is currently enrolled as a Master’s student at Duke University to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Born and raised in North Carolina, she started CrossFit in 2012 and was immediately hooked:“I knew after the first WOD I was coming back!”. As a trainer, she wants to encourage and inform you to push your limits and reach your goals.
Suzie is a 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher. She recently moved to Winston from the DC area, where she was heavily involved in the yoga and fitness community for over four years. Apart from her classes at Top Tier, she currently teaches yoga sculpt at PAZ Studios and Vinyasa Flow at Gold’s Gym and Village Yoga. Growing up Suzie was a multi sport athlete and dancer. Suzie sees the practice of yoga as a wonderful way to release tension in the physical body and free up space in the mind. She is continuously humbled by the inspiration she draws from other people, especially her students. She looks forward to working with and getting to know everyone in the Top Tier Community!
Brandon Fulwider is a Coaches Prep/ Level 2 certified Trainer and has coached CrossFit for over 4 years. He was head coach of I Am CrossFit Vida Brickell (Miami, Florida) for 2+ years. He has also coached at CrossFit Boynton Beach (Boynton Beach, Florida), and CrossFit BGI (West Palm, Florida) before making the move to NC. Brandon has also worked in positions as Head Judge and Assistant Program Director with “The Crush Games” and “Disney’s Fit Challenge”, respectively. Brandon has been coached briefly by Danny Camargo in Olympic disciplines and Dr. Romanov in the Pose method. Throughout his life, Brandon has been an athlete. He played competitive soccer for various clubs in Florida and also played water polo for Indiana University in their Big Ten division. He also has a background in the EMT/ Paramedic field.
Kristin is a Crossfit Level 1 trainer and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). She graduated with a Masters Degree from Wake Forest University, and holds a certification in Sports Nutrition. Her sports background includes All-Conference and All-State awards in soccer and cross-country running, and collegiate club soccer and Division III lacrosse. She started Crossfit in October 2011 as a supplement to training for her first marathon, which she completed in 2012. After nine half-marathons, she chose to pursue Crossfit as her competitive sport. Kristin is very passionate about coaching others to achieve their own goals in Crossfit because of her own transformation.
Jeff is a CrossFit level 1 certified trainer. He is also a law enforcement instructor with certifications in physical fitness, subject control and arrest techniques along with basic and advanced ground defense. He initially viewed CrossFit as a way to better prepare individuals for a career in law enforcement and has since let CrossFit become a part of his daily routine. Jeff has created many strength and conditioning programs for numerous junior Olympic volleyball and youth soccer players. He currently holds certifications in both CPR & AED.
Ben is the Founder and Owner of Top Tier CrossFit and a graduate of Wake Forest University. Ben discovered CrossFit in the spring of 2011 while visiting family friend Nathan Forster (Owner of RhinoCo Fitness) in Miami. Ben garnered the base of his CrossFit knowledge under the tutelage of Evan and Mandi Davidson at CrossFit Diesel, in Columbia, MD—now Top Tier Columbia, the second Top Tier CrossFit location. Ben holds his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, however he plans on devoting the majority of his time to delivering the best possible experience to all of Top Tier’s members and clients.
